Asansol Durgapur Police has secured the conviction of the accused in a brutal murder case investigated by New Township Police Station.
In the early hours of 04.01.2025, the accused, Bishnu Ruidas, attacked his sister-in-law, Bindu Ruidas (30), with a sharp cutting weapon at her matrimonial home, inflicting fatal injuries to her neck and hands. When the victim's mother, Nirupa Ruidas, intervened to save her daughter, she too was brutally assaulted and sustained a grievous head injury. Despite her injuries, she managed to escape and alert her relatives, following which the police were immediately informed.
Responding swiftly, the police reached the spot without delay, registered the case, arrested the accused, and conducted a meticulous investigation. Scientific and other incriminating evidence was collected, and the charge sheet was filed within the prescribed time.
Upon completion of the trial, the Learned Additional District & Sessions Judge, 2nd Court, Durgapur, Paschim Bardhaman, by judgment dated 28.07.2026, convicted the accused and sentenced him to two terms of Life Imprisonment, along with other terms of imprisonment and fines under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

নিউ টাউনশিপ থানার তদন্তাধীন একটি নৃশংস হত্যাকাণ্ডের মামলায় আসানসোল-দুর্গাপুর পুলিশ অভিযুক্তকে দোষী সাব্যস্ত করাতে সক্ষম হয়েছে।

৪ জানুয়ারি ২০২৫-এর ভোরের দিকে, অভিযুক্ত বিষ্ণু রুইদাস তার শ্বশুরবাড়িতে গিয়ে তার শ্যালিকা বিন্দু রুইদাস (৩০)-কে একটি ধারালো অস্ত্র দিয়ে আক্রমণ করে; এতে বিন্দুর ঘাড় ও হাতে মারাত্মক জখম হয়। ভুক্তভোগীর মা নিরুপা রুইদাস মেয়েকে বাঁচাতে এগিয়ে এলে তাঁকেও নৃশংসভাবে আক্রমণ করা হয় এবং তাঁর মাথায় গুরুতর আঘাত লাগে। আঘাত পাওয়া সত্ত্বেও তিনি কোনোমতে পালিয়ে গিয়ে আত্মীয়দের বিষয়টি জানান এবং এরপরই পুলিশকে অবিলম্বে খবর দেওয়া হয়।

দ্রুত সাড়া দিয়ে পুলিশ ঘটনাস্থলে পৌঁছায়, মামলা নথিভুক্ত করে, অভিযুক্তকে গ্রেপ্তার করে এবং পুঙ্খানুপুঙ্খ তদন্ত চালায়। বৈজ্ঞানিক ও অন্যান্য অপরাধ প্রমাণকারী তথ্য-প্রমাণ সংগ্রহ করা হয় এবং নির্ধারিত সময়ের মধ্যেই চার্জশিট দাখিল করা হয়।

বিচার প্রক্রিয়া শেষে, পশ্চিম বর্ধমানের দুর্গাপুরের অতিরিক্ত জেলা ও দায়রা বিচারক (দ্বিতীয় আদালত) ২৮ জুলাই ২০২৬ তারিখে প্রদত্ত রায়ে অভিযুক্তকে দোষী সাব্যস্ত করেন। আদালত তাকে 'ভারতীয় ন্যায় সংহিতা, ২০২৩'-এর অধীনে দুবার যাবজ্জীবন কারাদণ্ড এবং সেই সঙ্গে অন্যান্য মেয়াদের কারাদণ্ড ও অর্থদণ্ডের সাজা প্রদান করেন।
